What is Coaching?
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.”
A professional coach collaborates with you to deepen awareness around your challenges and helps you open to more possibilities by dreaming bigger and into your growing edge. Coaching can help you shift perspectives and tap your natural resourcefulness and creativity to gain access to your core values, aliveness and deepest yearnings. From this space, alignment can take place as clarity emerges and moves you to design actions that serve you in living more fully.
In my experience, the heart and bare bones of coaching is in connecting deeply, showing up powerfully and being in full presence with you to meet you where you are in life. By holding a space of non-judgement and confidentiality, I listen deeply and ask empowering or evocative questions. I always see your True Essence or Core Self which is naturally whole, resourceful, diverse, full of possibility and always at choice (even though you might not feel that way at the moment).
In our work together, we befriend parts of you that may obscure access to your own wisdom, sense of choice and healing. I don’t do your work for you. You know yourself the best and YOU are your best healing agent. I’m not here as a band-aid, quick-fix or a one dimensional cheerleader for you. I don’t think you’re here for that either. We’re dynamic and complex beings in many ways and I’m here to coach all of you…mind, body, spirit and soul.
Living authentically and in alignment with your core values is life-long work. There’s lots to navigate as a human being. There are many layers and systems both internally and externally that intersect and interact with one another. Essentially, I help you open up space in your system and hold that space with you to release what needs to be released and invite what is ready to emerge. When working with me, you can accelerate your own transformation and ability to self-heal. You’ll start to embody and move into ways of being that feel new or more true to you right now.

What happens in a typical session?
Coaching can be dynamic, creative and expansive. Very generally speaking, as a client, you show up to the session with a challenge, goal or topic in mind. It could be something long-term or something that shows up that day. I have a very loose structure for each session that begins by working with you to identify and clarify what we’re exploring or coaching on that day. By the end of the session we come to a moment of debriefing, action and/or accountability. It’s not cookie-cutter, however. Sessions are highly individualized and we allow things to unfold. Clients and I are often surprised when we release attachments to the outcome of “how a session SHOULD be”.
This is a place for you to experiment, take risks, try new things, have fun, and dive real deep. It’s important that we open, trust and allow space for the magic of the moment to happen. Again, there’s no judgement here. Sessions are confidential. All parts of you are welcome and you have full agency to speak up and decide on the direction we go. Coaches, generally, do not give unsolicited advice.
What else can I expect during a coaching session?
I may ask you to check in with your body, to move or to briefly pause for a centering or breathing exercise. You always have a say in what we do and how it makes you feel. You’re always at choice.
In addition, it is not uncommon for me to use silence or the art of interruption as tools in the process.

Consultant and Thought Partner with small business entrepreneurs.
How long does the coaching last?
My standard coaching package is 6 sessions over 3 months (2 sessions per month). From my experience, I find this to be the most impactful way to dig deep and create sustainable change that you can carry through your life. There’s time to integrate learnings while maintaining consistent flow.
And……of course I am flexible because people are different with unique circumstances. If we’re meant to work together, rigidity seems silly. I’ve worked with clients for 3 months, 6 months and even clients who completed the standard coaching package and continued with one-off sessions over the span of years as we deepened the work and as the client achieved their goals and expanded into new ones.
When you’re on board, I’ll send you a link to schedule your first session and you’ll be prompted to fill out a few forms so I can get familiar with your goals and find out more about you. Feel free to schedule your Exploratory Call or simply visit the contact page with your inquiry.
Where are you located?
I’m based in New York’s Lower Hudson Valley after living in Brooklyn for over 20 years.
How do we work together?
I primarily coach over the phone.
It allows for a level of comfort within your own environment and a level of flexibility where we can really pay attention to the nuance of what’s being spoken. It’s also the least likely to encounter technical snafus.
Is coaching therapy?
No, coaching is not therapy nor is it a replacement for therapy. Coaching can be a great complement to therapy and other professional modalities. It is not uncommon for coaches to refer clients to other specialized professionals who may be better suited for more targeted areas of work.
A standard line is that Coaching is less about pathology and tends to be present and future facing with an orientation towards applied results. This doesn’t mean that we ignore the past. If some conditioning or mindset from the past is disrupting your now (and ultimately your future), we will absolutely explore that with your permission. My style of holistic coaching can often feel therapeutic and healing.
How can I get the most out of coaching?
-
Your coach should feel RIGHT for you. It should feel like a YES!
Even if I’m not the one for you in this moment, I have an extended network of certified professional coaches whom I could refer you to. In the end, my purpose is about being of service to you. If that means a referral, so be it. -
Build or grow a support system
Friends, family, colleagues or joining a group can be great extensions of support and accountability. A fertile foundation of connection, support and community can nourish you over and over again. Share what you are learning about yourself and what changes are happening for you with the important people in your life. -
Show up to your coaching with openness, honesty, integrity and respect.
Be present to what shows up.
Light can be found in dark places. Discoveries can take place when we’re willing to get a little uncomfortable. Be as honest with yourself as you can so you can see the truth of that moment. Allow space for the miraculous, the unknown. -
Consider regular self-care practice and mindfulness
Whether it’s meditation, yoga, qigong, sitting in nature, writing, drawing, reciting a mantra, singing or offering a gesture of kindness; consider doing or being in ways that feed you, fill you, calm you and restore you so that you may show up and contribute to this life in ways that serve you and the world around you.
